How-To unlock O2 ICE mobile phone

I purchased an O2 ICE mobile in Germany to use as an UMTS modem for browsing. This mobile came with a Sim Lock. After coming back to India, I was unable to use that mobile since it was sim locked. The local  vendor wanted Rs. 1500 to unlock this mobile. I felt this was really too costly as i had purchased the mobile for 99 euros.

I did some search in the internet and came across a sim unlocker called tool set “Pantech sim ulock” set for O2 ICE mobile.

Before proceeding, ensure that your mobile is fully charged else it might end up in a brick and phone might not be usable once it for all.

Following are the steps to unlock an O2 ICE mobile

1. Download the O2 ICE Sim unlock patch

2. You need the original USB cable that came along with the mobile

Step 1: Extract the downloaded to a folder in your computer

Step 2: Goto Drivers folder and click and install “Curitel_Packet_Service.exe”. This is the modem driver

Step 3: Goto Flasher folder. Extract the “Ice Ver1.0.1.zip” file.

Step 4: Switch on your phone and connect it to your PC.

Step 5: Open the file “Downloader.exe”, SELECT USB NAND, CHECK DLOAD+ERASE, File->OPEN and select .pat file (FW FOLDER) and press START SOFTWARE DLOAD. WAIT ONE MIN AND YOUR PHONE WILL BE FULLY UNLOCKED

Tip: If the application says “Phone not connected” then follow the steps mentioned below

1. connect the phone to the computer
2. Go to device manager and you will see curitel under modems (check what com port it is set to)
3. Open software and under port select user setting and match the com port.
4. Continue Unock process and all should be ok
